We have re-opened, but of course there are limitations and we want to tell you what we are doing for the safety of our staff and customers.
We are still offering pottery-to-go from the shop on the website, for anyone who is not yet comfortable with painting inside at Do It Yourself Crafts.
We are not currently offering crafts other than paint-your-own pottery. Keeping all the items sanitized is time-consuming, and we have eliminated some crafts that we aren’t quite ready to re-introduce to the studio. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters.
The main thing we are doing is limiting the number of people who can be in the studio at a time, and asking all people in the store to wear a mask. Right now, we do not want more than 20 customers in the shop. We have two 6-top tables, one 3-top table and two 2-top tables available. Once all three of those tables have customers seated at them, we will be unable to allow any more customers into the studio.
If you would like to reserve time at one of those tables, you can do that by either emailing us at least a day before at diyc.birmingham@gmail.com or calling the shop at 205-868-4346. No reservation is required, but reservations will be seated ahead of walk-in customers.
We can also open up for private groups on Sundays and after 6, with advance notice. Please contact us to find out more about this.
When you arrive, we will ask you to please go to the sink in the main studio and wash your hands with soap and water. This way, you can know we are asking all of our customers to do this before they select their pottery.
We are sanitizing all tables and chairs between customer groups, as well as all supplies used. Therefore, we have limited some of the supplies you are used to having access to. We are still working out all of the procedures we will use going forward, and we appreciate your patience as we determine the best course of action. It’s all new to us, too, and there are no guidebooks on how to do this!
