We Are Open (and what that means)
We have re-opened, but of course there are limitations and we want to tell you what we are doing for the safety of our staff and customers.
We are still offering pottery-to-go from the shop on the website, for anyone who is not yet comfortable with painting inside at Do It Yourself Crafts.
The main thing we are doing is limiting the number of people who can be in the studio at a time, and asking all people in the store to wear a mask. Right now, we do not want more than 16 customers in the shop. We have one 8-top table and two 4-top tables available. Once all three of those tables have customers seated at them, we will be unable to allow any more customers into the studio.
If you would like to reserve time at one of those tables, you can do that by either emailing us at least a day before at email@example.com or calling the shop at 205-868-4346. No reservation is required, but reservations will be seated ahead of walk-in customers.
When you arrive, we will ask you to please go to the sink in the main studio and wash your hands with soap and water. This way, you can know we are asking all of our customers to do this before they select their pottery.
We are sanitizing all tables and chairs between customer groups, as well as all supplies used. Therefore, we have limited some of the supplies you are used to having access to. We are still working out all of the procedures we will use going forward, and we appreciate your patience as we determine the best course of action. It's all new to us, too, and there are no guidebooks on how to do this!

In the craziness of what has been happening in the world, we’ve moved to teaching some classes on-line using Zoom. At the same time, studios around the country have also been doing that, and I am thrilled that we are teaming up with other studios to expand what we are offering to OUR customers! For […]View More
This is an AMAZING project that I am so excited to see! We’re going to do this with stoneware clay and you will come back to the studio to glaze it after it has been bisque fired. This is a project for older teens and adults. In the craziness of what has been happening in […]View More
So now it’s June? How did THAT happen so fast? I’m not really sure how time works any longer. One month takes forever. The next month takes FOREEEEEEVVVVEEEEERRRRRR and then the next few months fly by? I was sure that I had written something since the beginning of May, but apparently I had not. School […]Read More
How many times have we re-thought about what we are doing? It. Has. Been. A. Lot. Some of the changes have been BIG and some haven’t been. Some have been temporary and some I know will be permanent. I also know that we aren’t done making changes. That’s okay, the entire time this store has […]Read More
So, what’s next? Like all of you, we are trying to figure out what happens next in this world we are living in. It’s been hard, and I’ve gone on a roller coaster of emotions since we began. Not even a month ago would have I imagined we would be where we are right now, […]Read More
